Green beauty gets fun…and that pretty summer glow! June 18 2015, 11 Comments
If you’re in the green beauty scene, it’s a safe bet that you absolutely love it and it’s a big part of who you are. You’ve most likely seen huge improvements in your skin, hair, nails, health and even in your mood. Well, it’s a great time to be green as conventional favorites that were once impossible to replace are now available and even better than ever.
Being a creator of non-toxic skincare, I love nothing more than solving a conventional beauty problem with one of my green beauty solutions, but not too long ago, my friends had me stumped. They were all sitting around talking about how much they love shimmer products. Shimmer. You know, the ones that leave a gorgeous glow on the skin and it seems as if everyone is applying them once it starts getting warm out? Yep, those. That's when it struck me that we really don’t have enough “fun” products in green beauty. Sure, our products are great and serve their purpose incredibly well, but fun? Not quite. With that, I set out to make an organic—and fun—shimmer product made with only pure ingredients.
One of the keys to healthy, glowing skin (beyond your diet) is skin that’s been properly exfoliated and moisturized, which is why I came up with the idea to create a one-step scrub that would smooth the skin, moisturize it and leave it with a subtle, pretty glow, all using ingredients from nature. Hence, my Organic Shimmer Scrub was born. Made with a base of unrefined cane sugar and a mix of rosehip seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil, grape seed oil, vitamin E and essential oils to give it a bright, citrus scent, this scrub was designed to be one product that takes the place of three, making it perfect for showering and running out the door. And using it is as easy as it sounds: apply in a circular motion on wet skin, rinse off and when you get out of the shower, just pat yourself dry. The shimmer is built into the scrub and will remain on the skin leaving a soft, healthy-looking sheen behind.
Why Use A Body Scrub?
Nothing gives skin a better glow than skin that’s been exfoliated well and moisturized. Exfoliating will make all of your skincare products work better, especially a shimmer product. Dead skin cells cause skin to look ashy, dull, cause clogged pores, make skin feel rough and look uneven. So, make sure to exfoliate your body either once a day or a few times a week (especially if you’re using a heavy SPF) and enjoy your summer. Shine on!
